Looks like Ink Master star Daniel Silva (above, left) is going to be spending a few months inking up fellow inmates behind bars.
The tattooist has been sentenced to 364 days in jail, five years of formal probation, 250 hours of community service, and a suspended prison sentence of four years in his criminal case involving the death of his friend, YouTube star Corey La Barrie (above, right). According to a press release by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, a suspended sentence “may be imposed if a defendant violates the terms of his probation.”
As we reported, the 27-year-old pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence last month. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop the second degree murder charge he was slapped with after Corey died from injuries in a car wreck just hours after they left the vlogger’s 25th birthday party.

Corey was a passenger in the car, while Daniel was reportedly seen drinking before getting behind the wheel of the vehicle. To make matters worse, law enforcement sources recently revealed the tattooist allegedly tried to flee the scene after the accident but was stopped by witnesses.
Officials said in a statement:
“The driver of the McLaren exited the vehicle and attempted to leave the scene but was stopped by citizens who came to render aid. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported both parties involved in the collision to a local hospital for medical treatment.”
Apparently, Daniel is very pleased with the light sentence. His attorney Mike Cavalluzzi told People:
“We are so grateful that Daniel has been granted the opportunity of probation in this case and has been spared a state prison sentence. He continues to be remorseful and grief stricken by Corey’s loss… As we have said from the beginning, our hearts are with Corey’s family. While we are pleased with the Court’s sentence, this is no time to celebrate. A bright light has been lost in Corey, and Daniel will always strive to live up to his dear friend’s memory.”
Corey’s cause of death was listed as multiple blunt force injuries.
According to the internet star’s mother, Lissa Harrison, both young men were drunk as they were celebrating her son’s birthday. She penned a confirmation of his passing to Instagram:
“My heart breaks right now, on my sons 25 birthday today he was very drunk and got into a car with a drunk diver. The accident killed him instantly. No words can describe the sadness I feel in loosening a child. It just feels so unreal and I’m overwhelmed with grief. I love you so much Corey and will miss you so so much. It’s just so unfair”
